Canine Behaviourist & Trainer

Understanding the 'Why' Behind Your Dog's Behaviour

It can be incredibly distressing when your beloved companion is struggling. Whether they are barking uncontrollably on walks, showing signs of anxiety when left alone, or displaying reactivity toward other dogs, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and unsure of where to turn.

You aren’t alone, and more importantly, your dog isn’t just "being bad".

Behavioural issues are almost always a sign of underlying emotional distress, frustration, or fear. As a qualified Canine Behaviourist, my role is to look beyond the symptoms, uncover the root cause of the behaviour, and help you rebuild a bond rooted in trust and mutual understanding.

How I Can Help

Unlike standard obedience training - which focuses on teaching cues like 'sit' and 'stay' - behaviour modification addresses how your dog feels about the world around them. By changing their emotional response, we naturally change their outward behaviour.

I specialise in supporting owners and dogs through a variety of complex behavioural challenges, including:

  • Reactivity & Aggression: Lunging, barking, or snapping at people, dogs, or vehicles.

  • Resource Guarding: Protecting food, toys, spaces, or people.

  • Rescue Dog Rehabilitation: Helping rescue or imported dogs settle into their new lives.

  • Fear & Phobias: Sensitivity to loud noises (like fireworks), grooming, or vet visits.

  • Generalised Anxiety: Hyper-vigilance, inability to settle, and constant stress.

My Approach: Science-Based & Force-Free

No shock collars, no prong collars, no intimidation.

The field of canine science has evolved dramatically. We now know that outdated "alpha" or dominance-based methods only mask behaviour through fear, often making the underlying problem much worse.

My approach is strictly ethical, force-free, and scientifically proven. I use positive reinforcement to reward desirable behaviours and compassionate management strategies to set your dog up for success. We will work at a pace that keeps both you and your dog feeling safe and supported.

What to Expect: The Behavioural Journey

Behaviour change takes time, consistency, and patience. Because every dog and household is unique, I do not offer "one-size-fits-all" quick fixes. Instead, we work through a structured process:

  1. Vet Referral: Because pain or medical discomfort is a primary trigger for sudden behavioural changes, I always work alongside your vet to rule out any underlying health issues first.

  2. In-Depth Consultation: A comprehensive assessment (either in-home or remote) to analyse your dog’s history, environment, diet, and daily routine.

  3. Bespoke Behaviour Plan: You will receive a personalised, step-by-step modification plan tailored to your lifestyle.

  4. Ongoing Support: Behaviour modification is a journey. I provide continued coaching, video analysis, and follow-up sessions to guide you through every milestone.

Meet Monty!

Monty was touch sensitive and didn't like to be groomed. He had needed to be muzzled in the past to keep everyone safe. After just two sessions, Monty had a fear-free groom with us & gave plenty of tail wags and kisses throughout.

Meet Dutch!

Dutch is a rescue boy from The Dogs Trust. When I met him, he had never met another dog and had no idea how to "speak dog". As a result, he would bark, lunge and snap towards them. After working with us, Dutch has been making new friends every day and enjoying  off lead time at the park now!

Meet Frankie!

Frankie was a rescue puppy who developed some reactivity and sound sensitivity. Once we identified his triggers, we could get to work. Now when Frankie see's his triggers, he sits and looks to his humans. Well done to Frankie's humans who have put in all this work!

Tabitha is a gorgeous teenage labrador who didnt quite see why she needed to come back when there was fun to be had elsewhere! She particularly loved chasing small furries in the woodland. Tabitha's recall challenges are now resolved and she understands why its the best option to listen to her humans.
