My Experience

I have been a dog trainer & behaviour specialist, running Cultured Canine Dog Services for 6 years. During this time, I have worked with many owner trained assistance dog teams to help them reach their training goals, from puppies to adulthood.

In addition to this, I have successfully bred two litters of Standard poodles who were all temperament assessed & three placed into owner trained Assistance Dog homes. All are thriving and providing excellent aid for their humans.

I am a Suitability assessor with the Assistance dog charity, Pawsable & I am the area assessor for Therapy dogs through Therapy Dogs Nationwide.

I am passionate about helping partnerships to succeed in their goals to having a fully trained Assistance dog.

Can I be part of another organisation and join you?

Yes, we have no problems with individuals being part of other organisations and working with us, however we do urge you to be mindful of differences in training methods and styles, as well as ensure you remain within our code of ethics at all times.

What are your training methods?

We are stricty reward-based training and do not use any aversives, corrections or coercion to train.

We allow the use of any training equipment that does not cause discomfort, pain or fear to your dog to change behaviour. This means that we do not permit the use of Electronic collars, Prong collars, Grot collars or figure-8 slip leads.

How old does a dog have to be to join the Academy?

We accept puppies right from 8 weeks old. There is no upper age limit.

If I have done suitability assessments elsewhere, do I have do to them again with you?

No, we will accept suitability assessments & awards from other organisations in most circumstances.

Do you have dedicated vests for us to wear?

No, at this time we do not offer any uniform, vests or insurance for those training with us. These will need to be sourced independently. However, we can held advise on this.

How much does it cost to join?

We have different packages to suit each individual. Packages start from £19.99 a month.

Do you offer board & Train?

No, we currently do not offer board & train. We do offer Intensive training weeks which are up to 15 hours of intensive training with an experienced trainer. We also offer intesive 6hr weekend sessions.
